About Mel's Rescue Animals
Welcome to Customised Pet Pawtraits!

Since 2017, Mel has dedicated her heart and home to fostering cats with additional needs, providing them with the care and love they deserve.
​
Her mission is to create a safe haven for these special animals, ensuring they receive the veterinary care necessary to manage their unique health challenges. At present, Mel has 12 rescue cats in her care with additional needs such as asthma, reoccurring cat flu symptoms and severe dental disease.

Spotlight on Bertie!

Bertie and his brother Ernie (pictured in Customised Pet Pawtraits sample artworks) were found in 2019 in a wood pile in Cootamundra, almost 200kms North-West of Canberra. Riddled with fleas, worms, and ear mites, these poor kittens were off to a rough start in life.
Once in Mel's care, the boys were quickly treated for their parasites and settled in well. After some time, poor Bertie developed a cough and a wheeze that was later diagnosed as asthma. Bertie has many triggers such as dust, cold air, and pollen, and his condition must be managed carefully by using a daily inhaler. There are periods where Bertie's asthma flares up, and he has required many trips to the vet. Bertie requires some expensive imaging of his lungs, and associated treatment, your purchase will go directly to helping him access this vital care.
